Everton have reportedly become the latest Premier League side to register an interest in Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey.

It has been reported by The Sun that Everton have joined the race to sign Aaron Ramsey as his Arsenal contract runs down and he looks destined for a move away from the Emirates.

The Sun reports that Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea are all keen on Ramsey, but the Toffees are hoping to rival the cluster of Premier League sides and make their own bid for the Wales international.

It may be a free transfer, but it could be suggested that getting Ramsey through the Goodison Park door would be one of the biggest statements that Everton have made in the market since Farhad Moshiri arrived on Merseyside.

Ramsey has perhaps had a slightly more mixed spell with the Gunners than a player of his quality should have had, but his form since the start of last season has been remarkable – as Marco Silva’s men know all too well.

He scored a hat-trick against Everton last season and bagged two assists in Arsenal’s win over the Toffees this term. And some of his other performances in the early stages of this campaign have been fantastic.

If he can replicate that form for Silva’s side, it would be an incredible statement from the club to get him in, especially when you consider the other teams that are considering making offers for the midfielder over the coming months.

Getting Ramsey in on a six-figure deal – The Sun reports that he will be offered £150,000-a-week over five years – would not only improve Everton’s midfield, but it would also send out a message to other transfer targets regarding the direction that the club are looking to travel in.

Ramsey will not be one of the most expensive signings Everton make, but given his current form and the queue of admirers forming, it would arguably go down as one of the most important in the Toffees’ recent history.
