Everton should reject Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier – and definitely for £20 million.

One thing Everton fans will agree on this season is that they need a new right-back – and they’re reportedly interested in a Tottenham Hotspur one.
Seamus Coleman looks a declining force for Everton and, according to The Sun, the Toffees are interested in Spurs’ Kieran Trippier.
Many on the blue half of the Merseyside divide would have bitten your hand off for Trippier last summer, following his heroics at the World Cup.
But like Coleman, the 28-year-old just hasn’t had a good season with Tottenham and Everton’s Director of Football Marcel Brands shouldn’t pay £20 million for him.
Even in this climate, that’s a lot of money and if the North Londoners are willing to sell, that’s the red flag right there.
After all, Tottenham are what clubs like Everton will be hoping to emulate in the coming years and if Trippier isn’t good enough for Spurs then why would he be good enough for the Blues?
Obviously the Lilywhites are a better team, but Everton are a big club and they’re not at the stage where they need hand-me-down players. That isn’t the way forward.
He’s an upgrade on Coleman, but not a huge one and that should be Brands’ goal this summer.
