The Sun recently claimed that the Toffees are interested in the England international’s services and are planning a £35million bid in the summer.
It is said that manager Marco Silva may need to cash in on midfield rock Idrissa Gueye if they are to muster up the money for the Cherries hitman.
Amid all the inconsistencies from Everton this season, Gueye has throughout remained a constant performer for Silva’s side, who finished the Premier League campaign in the top eight.
Signing a player of Wilson’s qualities would more than improve Everton’s chances of taking that next step in the ladder, but potentially losing Gueye along the way would only result in them taking one step forward and two steps back.
Senegal international Geuye is one of the most underrated players in England’s top-flight and he is the engine to this European-chasing Everton team.
If they are to reach those heights and stay there then a player like Gueye has to stay at the club unless a ridiculous offer or player comes along.
Whilst Wilson is a serious threat up front in the Premier League, he wouldn’t be worth signing if it results in Gueye heading for the exit door. There are plenty more fish in the sea for Everton and they should look elsewhere.
Depending on the situation, if the Merseyside club can add Wilson to their squad without losing Gueye then Silva would be building a quite lethal and dangerous attacking set-up at Goodison Park.
