The Everton forward has admitted that he could leave this month.
Although there has been much discussion regarding further possible arrivals at Everton during this month’s transfer window, there could also be some departures from Goodison Park.
One player who could leave is David Henen, with the young forward indicating that he wants to depart either permanently or on loan as he seeks regular playing time elsewhere, as reported by The Liverpool Echo.
Since joining Everton, initially on loan, from Olympiacos in 2014, Henen has featured regularly for The Toffees at youth level but he has yet to make a senior appearance.
The 21-year-old, who can play as a left winger or a central striker, is an exciting prospect but he has yet to provide evidence that he is capable of performing consistently, even at U23 level.
Indeed, Henen has only mustered ten goals and six assists across 48 appearances for Everton at U23 level, while he was unable to make much of an impact during a loan spell with Fleetwood Town in League One two seasons ago.
Henen has reached the stage in his development where a decision needs to be made about his future and it appears that it would be best for all parties if he was to leave Everton and look to get his career back on track elsewhere, possibly abroad.
It would be a difficult decision to make in terms of letting Henen move on, but it seems that Everton should accept that the youngster now isn’t going to make the breakthrough into the first-team.
