Everton could work wonders with the West Ham United youngster if he really is available for transfer next month.
According to the Sun, West Ham United could sell Reece Oxford to Borussia Monchengladbach in January for £6million but, if the Hammers really are willing to cash in on one of their most talented teenagers, Everton should try a late bid of their own.
Oxford was only 16 when he burst onto the Premier League scene with an outstanding performance against Arsenal and yet, despite featuring another 15 times for the Hammers, he has barely been seen in recent times and was sent out on loan to Germany last summer.
That temporary stint has not exactly gone according to plan, at last in terms of minutes played, yet Monchengladbach are allegedly keen to make the deal permanent with West Ham said to be willing to take just £6million for the 18-year-old.
That could be a bargain if Oxford fulfils his potential and Everton manager Sam Allardyce should do everything in his power to gazump the German side and bring the West Ham youngster to Goodison Park.
A centre-back-cum-holding-midfielder, Oxford is the real deal and he could become a Premier League superstar in time, if only someone would give him the chance.
Losing another talented teen abroad, following in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho, would be bad news for the English league, and Oxford could be the ideal long-term solution to Everton’s ageing back line, with Phil Jagielka approaching the twilight of his career.
Everton would struggle to get many players of Oxford’s talent for just £6million and they should try before it is too late.
