Everton reportedly made a move for the midfielder 10 months ago but now his club are allegedly willing to sell.

Sporting Lisbon's Adrien Silva

According to a report from Portuguese newspaper Record Sporting Lisbon are willing to cash in on midfielder Adrien Silva this summer for just £11.4million and, with the same report mentioning Everton as a potential destination, the Toffees would be wise to renew their interest from last summer.

Back in August 2016, Diario de Noticias claimed Everton had contacted Silva’s agent to discuss a possible move for the Sporting skipper, and while nothing came of that they should pull out all the stops to get a deal over the line this time round.

After all, Everton need a younger, more mobile replacement for the ageing Gareth Barry and Silva is the ideal candidate.

At 28, he is arguably still at his peak, and with 232 appearances for Sporting under his belt he has experience in abundance.

In that time he has scored 38 goals and provided 19 assists and he could work well with fellow Everton midfielders Idrissa Gueye and Morgan Schneiderlin.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman will understand the importance of strength in depth as he guides the Toffees through domestic and European competition next season, and for a snip in the current market Silva would fit the bill.

Only time will tell if Everton remain interested in the player having added Schneiderlin to their ranks in January, but considering his price-tag Koeman may struggle to sit this one out and watch him move elsewhere without a fight.
