Everton were granted a lucky escape when Tottenham Hotspur flop Moussa Sissoko decided against a move to Merseyside last summer.
Tottenham’s Moussa Sissoko
Moussa Sissoko’s miserable Tottenham Hotspur career looks as though it could be coming to an end, with Le JDD suggesting Marseille are ready to make a move.
The France international was signed from relegated Newcastle United for a reported £30million last summer, with Spurs fighting off interest from Everton after the player had excelled at Euro 2016.

However, Sissoko has struggled badly in London, starting only eight Premier League games and contributing sparingly to Tottenham’s title challenge.
The 27-year-old told L’Equipe last month that it might be time to move on and Everton were again cited as potential suitors.
But Ronald Koeman looks to have wisely steered clear of a second bid for the inconsistent midfielder as he now prepares for a return to Ligue 1 four-and-a-half years after leaving Toulouse.
Tottenham’s Moussa Sissoko
Although Mauricio Pochettino and his Everton counterpart were seemingly taken in by Sissoko’s performances in the blue of France, regular Newcastle watchers could have predicted his underwhelming club campaign.
Sissoko made over 100 appearances for the Magpies, but he rarely delivered when it mattered most and his substandard displays contributed to the club’s relegation.
While Tottenham fans will be glad to see the back of the 51-cap international, Everton supporters should also be relieved that Sissoko will seemingly not be moving to Goodison Park.
