Tom Davies seemed to struggle during Everton’s latest game, just a couple of weeks after Celtic made their move for the midfielder.

It was reported by the Daily Mail earlier this month that Celtic were keen on signing Everton midfielder Tom Davies on loan as Brendan Rodgers seemingly looks to bolster his options in the middle of the park.

The youngster has made 67 Premier League appearances for the Toffees, but has been more of a peripheral figure under Marco Silva. He has played eight times in the top flight, including six starts.

As reported by the Mail, Silva had no intention of letting the 20-year-old leave when the January window opens.

But after Everton’s defeat to Spurs before Christmas, perhaps Silva should reconsider his stance if Celtic make another bid for the midfielder before the end of the window.

Davies was one of several players who seemed to struggle in the 6-2 loss. He seemed to tire as the game went on, and Tottenham’s dominance in the midfield battle was a key reason for their emphatic victory.

If Rodgers can guarantee first-team football over the coming months, Celtic could be a fantastic place for Davies to go on loan.

He undoubtedly has the quality to stand out in the Scottish Premiership and a run of games during the remaining months of the season – including in the Europa League – may be exactly what the youngster needs.

Davies has the potential to be a special player. And, while he may be extremely reluctant to lose him for the rest of the campaign, Silva should be willing to let him go out on loan if it could be more beneficial for Davies in the long run.
