Everton are reportedly plotting a move for Jamie Vardy, but perhaps a fresh pursuit of Celtic’s Moussa Dembele should be the priority.

The 31-year-old has been fantastic since Leicester were promoted to the top flight, and he would arguably be a decent addition to Everton’s squad in the short-term. But should the Toffees instead go back in for a striker that they were linked with January who could perhaps be the long-term replacement for Romelu Lukaku?
The Sun reported that Celtic’s Moussa Dembele was on Everton’s radar even after they had signed Cenk Tosun. And based on the form that Dembele is starting to find, the Toffees should not hesitate to make a move for the youngster at the end of the season.

The Scottish Sun has suggested that a summer exit from Parkhead is looking likely right now, so Everton should not miss out on the chance to bring the former Fulham ace to the Premier League.
Dembele has shown that he has a lethal streak in front of goal, and has shown that in the Champions League during his time with the Hoops, so that should arguably prove a point to those who will suggest the quality in the Scottish Premiership as a reason not to pursue a deal.
The 21-year-old has four goals in his last three games and that form should tempt Everton to keep a keen eye on his progress for the rest of the season.
Vardy may be less of a gamble if he arrives, but if Everton want to finally fill the void that Lukaku has left, Dembele has to be the priority. He has the quality and potential to be the Toffees’ star striker for years to come.
