Everton were linked with making a move for the Bournemouth striker in the January transfer window.

Everton could have more luck if they rekindle their interest in Bournemouth striker Josh King this summer, judging by his comments in Norwegian newspaper newspaper VG.

King has suggested that he is not happy with Eddie Howe, after he was given a deeper role over the past campaign.

He said: “I’m not happy and my manager knows that. I have talked to the boss and told him that I don’t like this role, but what is said between us stays in that room. It’s not secret that I don’t like it. I’m a striker and that’s where I’m at my best.”

The comments should spark Everton’s interest in the forward all over again.

The Sun reported how Everton were plotting a £20 million bid for King in the January transfer window, but they were unable to get a deal over the line at that stage.

King was still a key player at Bournemouth in January, and in the end Everton went for Cenk Tosun instead.

Tosun has made a good start at Everton, but the Toffees still need more firepower next campaign, and King could offer them that.

Joshua King of AFC Bournemouth scores his sides first goal during the Premier League match between Everton and AFC Bournemouth at Goodison Park on September 23, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

The 26-year-old may not have hit his best form over the past campaign, but his 16-goal season in 2016/17 shows how threatening King can be at his best.

And if King is looking for a route out of Bournemouth, then Everton would be wise to join the queue for his signature again.
