Chris Wood would be a good addition to the Everton squad.
The Toffees have added Wayne Rooney and Sandro to their ranks, and while both of them are capable of scoring, they’re not out-and-out #9’s.
Everton have been linked with strikers like Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck, and Andre Gray at some point during the summer transfer window, which shows the Merseyside club are still in the hunt of a central striker despite spending big on seven (eight, if we add Gylfi Sigurdsson) new players.
With this in mind, the addition of a proven centre-forward is necessary, and Leeds United hitman Chris Wood could be a useful option for them.
The 25-year-old enjoyed a superb 2016/17 Championship campaign with Leeds where he became the league’s top scorer with 27 goals.
The New Zealand international is physically strong and would add different qualities to Koeman’s side. According to the Sun, he would be available at £20 million, which would represent a good value in the inflated transfer market.
Wood will jump at the opportunity to join a club like Everton, and Leeds probably will not block his way should they receive a handsome offer from the Premier League outfit.
The question is, can he replicate his form in the Premier League?
In recent years, players from lower division have made a huge impact in the Premier League – the likes of Alli and Gray comes to mind. So, there’s no reason to believe why Wood can’t deliver at this level.
His signing will be a big gamble, but at £20 million, it is a gamble worth taking.
