Hull City youngster Jarrod Bowen was linked to Everton in late 2015 – and he certainly fits The Toffees’ profile.
Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen has been awarded the EFL Young Player of the Month award for August – and deservedly so.
The 20-year-old has been a bright spark in a difficult start to the season for a transitional Hull City side, scoring four goals in the first month of the campaign to sit at the top of the Championship’s goalscoring charts. He has since scored a fifth, coming in The Tigers’ 2-1 defeat to Fulham on Wednesday.
That’s quite a return for a player whose most recent senior goal before this season came for non-league Hereford United back in 2013/14.
It is these glimpses of star quality that explain why Premier League giants Everton were reportedly tracking a teenage Bowen late in 2015, as reported by The Hereford Times.
And The Toffees could do worse than to keep tabs on a player whose reputation is on the rise – especially with director of football Steve Walsh scouring the country for highly-rated youngsters to ensure a bright future at Goodison Park.

18-year-old winger Josh Bowler and 17-year-old left-back Lewis Gibson have already arrived on Merseyside this year from QPR and Newcastle United respectively. Gibson (below) could end up costing Everton £6 million – despite not having played a single minute of senior football, per The Sun.
The Sun on Sunday (10th September) reports that Sheffield United midfielder David Brooks is the next on Everton’s list.
And you wonder whether Bowen is still in Everton’s sights. Based on current form, the Leominster-born attacker is exactly the kind of player The Toffees are targeting; young, exciting and homegrown.
Dele Alli and Will Hughes are among the previous recipients of the EFL’s Young Player of the Month award and, if Bowen can replicate their progress, he would be a fine investment for Everton.
