The Chelsea-linked Leicester City star would be a fabulous addition to the Everton squad.
News broke this morning concerning Danny Drinkwater’s future with the Foxes, with Sky Sports reporting that Chelsea are interested in obtaining his signature.
The Toffees should consider entering the race for the 27-year-old, however, and could steal a march on the west Londoners by offering long-term Leicester target James McCarthy to the east Midlanders as part of the deal.
With Gareth Barry set to turn 37 during the second half of this season, Everton undoubtedly need another central midfielder, and Drinkwater would be ideal for Ronald Koeman’s side, what with the manner in which he can control the tempo of a game.

The former Manchester United ace proved this quality during the Foxes’ 2015/16 Premier League title winning campaign, demonstrating his wonderful array of passing, and tenacious attitude on a consistent basis.
He is also a natural leader – something that Koeman expects of any signing he makes as a prerequisite.
And whilst a move to the Premier League champions might seem to be a more attractive one on paper, the exciting project underway at Goodison Park could surely tempt Drinkwater into choosing the Toffees over Antonio Conte’s side.
And with Craig Shakespeare reportedly keen on bringing James McCarthy to the King Power Stadium, according to the Daily Mail, some kind of exchange deal involving the Irishman and the England international is surely the ideal outcome for all parties concerned.
And if Koeman manages to win the race for Drinkwater, it could prove to be a hugely significant signing, with regards to their hopes of cracking the top four.
