A recent report from the Daily Mirror suggested that Everton’s interest in West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini was down to the fact that Ronald Koeman wanted more creativity in his side after a promising year in the Premier League.
Feyenoord’s Eljero Elia has enjoyed an excellent season
One player who has certainly enjoyed a productive year with his current club, and may be interested in linking up with Koeman once again – judging by his 2015 comments about the Dutchman – is Feyenoord’s Eljero Elia.
Elia was a key part of the side that clinched the Eredivisie title this term, scoring nine times and contributing eight assists from the wing in just 24 games in the top flight, so perhaps the Toffees should take a punt on signing the 30-year-old as they look to build a squad capable of challenging higher up the table.
Elia scored nine times in the Eredivisie
It would certainly not be a surprise if the winger was very keen to make the move to Goodison Park if given the chance, having worked alongside Koeman during the latter’s time as Southampton boss and having claimed that he would walk through fire for the Everton boss two years ago (via Daily Mirror).
Elia may not be one of the marquee additions that Toffees fans will be hoping for, but judging by his performance in the Dutch top flight this season and the fact that he is clearly fond of working with Koeman, he may provide some of that creativity that the club are looking for if they decided to make a move this summer.
