The Porto man could do a job on the pitch and make the club some money off of it.

Everton’s fortunes have certainly improved since the appointment of Sam Allardyce as manager. The Merseyside club are now looking clear of a shock relegation battle and will have one eye on sneaking into European qualification contention.

To do so, improvements will still need to be made in January.

One position they must improve in is as left-back. With Leighton Baines injured the club’s lack of depth in the position has been clear.

Everton may not want to spend big on a long-term solution in the winter, so a loan deal is certainly an option. One player that should come under consideration is former Watford star Miguel Layun.

The Mexican international is not playing regularly at current club Porto and can play both at left-back and right-back – offering Allardyce some flexibility as well. Everton fans will know him well, he scored the opening goal of the season at Goodison Park in 2015-16 as Everton dew 2-2 with Watford.

He will be looking to gain regular playing time ahead of the World Cup this summer and this could certainly play into the hands of Everton.

Not only would he be a useful signing on the pitch, but he would also be a good marketing tool off of it. Surprisingly, Layun is one of the most popular footballers in the world. He has a remarkable 2.88 million followers on Twitter because of his massive following in his homeland.

With Mexico a burgeoning football market Everton would do well to tap into it whilst also bringing in a perfect option for their current needs. Layun could be the man for Everton.
