Everton are reportedly pursuing Atalanta’s Josip Ilicic.

According to reports from Calciomercato, Everton hold an interest in snapping up Atalanta forward Josip Ilicic this summer – but the Toffees would almost certainly be better off spending their money elsewhere.
The Toffees have endured a dismal season under Ronald Koeman and now Sam Allardyce, and looks set to fall short of their goal of another top seven finish, with changes potentially coming this summer.
The Daily Mail note that Paulo Fonseca and Marcel Brands could be brought in as manager and recruitment chief respectively this summer, and more new signings are expected even after splashing the cash on Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcott last month.

In recent days, Calciomercato have reported that Everton have an interest in signing Atalanta star Josip Ilicic, who has starred for the Italian side this season with 11 goals and eight assists.
Ilicic, 30, has been a regular in Italy with the likes of Palermo and Fiorentina, and whilst he is impressing, Everton would be wasting their money if they splashed out on the Slovenian international this summer.
Ilicic is primarily a No. 10, possessing outstanding long-range shooting ability, set piece delivery and creativity, though his lack of pace prevents him from playing further forward or out wide; and that would certainly be one description for Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The Icelandic star has struggled to really live up to his price tag this season, and adding yet another No. 10 to the mix – in exactly the same mould as Sigurdsson – would be a waste of money when other areas need attention.
Everton made that mistake last summer, bringing in Wayne Rooney, Davy Klaassen and Sigurdsson all at the same time, and rather than repeat that error and bring in yet another attacking midfielder, it’s time for Everton to focus on other areas.
