Thomas Meunier has suggested that he could move to a club like Everton in the summer.

PSG defender Thomas Meunier may have linked himself with a move to Everton, but the Toffees really don’t need him.

Meunier has suggested that he may look at a club like Everton, if he does make a move away from PSG in the summer.

The Belgian said to RMC Sport: “I do not ask for too much. What I want is to just play football and if I have to go down a notch to be able to be on the pitch, I will do. I could aim for a club like Everton, Valencia or Borussia Dortmund.”

And while the comments may be exciting for Everton supporters, the club should show some restraint.

Meunier is unquestionably a talent, but he is a player who isn’t needed at Goodison Park, and with PSG asking for £36 million that money would be better off spent elsewhere.

Everton already have good options at right-back in the shape of Seamus Coleman and Jonjoe Kenny.

Coleman is already one of the best right-backs in the Premier League, while Kenny looks to have the potential to be a first-team player of the future.

And by bringing in Meunier, Everton would only be strengthening an area of their squad which doesn’t need improving.

The Toffes are, therefore, best off avoiding the temptation to go for Meunier, and saving their money to invest in other parts of the squad which need improving far more.
