The Toffees forward, on loan at Falkirk, has struggled for game time both at Goodison Park and at the Falkirk Stadium this term.

Everton on-loan youngster Shayne Lavery scored his second goal in as many games for Northern Ireland’s Under-21s as they claimed their sixth win in a row on Monday.

The Toffees ace, on loan at Scottish Championship club Falkirk, was named on the substitutes’ bench for the Wee Country’s game against Mexico’s Under-22s in Spain.

Lavery had made Ian Baraclough’s starting XI for the 1-0 win over Bulgaria last week and scored the winner in the 18th minute of the match, and he repeated the feat against the Mexicans.

Pablo Lopez put Mexico’s U22s in front in the 16th minute of the clash at the Estadio Municipal de Marbella on Monday but Chris Gallagher set up David Parkhouse for the equaliser on the hour mark.

Lavery came off the bench and went on to claim his second winner in a row for his nation in the 87th minute, a neat curled finish inside the box after Cameron Palmer slipped the ball through to him for a 2-1 final score.

The 20-year-old hasn’t had much luck at club level this season, playing just a handful of minutes for Falkirk and not featuring for them at all since early February, according to Transfermarkt.

Indeed, he is yet to make his Everton senior debut, while his game time at Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy level for the Toffees has been sporadic this term, so his international goals should do him the world of good confidence-wise.

Mexico had a player sent off at 1-1 and they finished with nine men when another was dismissed in added time against NI, who narrowly missed out on a playoff place in the previous Euros qualifying campaign.
