Former Everton academy player Calum Dyson has quit professional football.

Everton have sent a heartfelt message to Calum Dyson on Twitter following the 23-year-old’s decision to retire from professional football.
Dyson announced on his Twitter page that he made the decision to quit professional football at the tender age of 23.
The youngster came to the decision after persistent problem with an ankle injury.
Dyson came through the Everton academy and was part of David Unsworth’s Under-23 side who won the Premier League 2 title during the 2016-17 campaign.

Back in action
Meanwhile, Everton will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on West Ham United at Goodison Park in the Premier League.
Marco Silva’s side are third from bottom in the league table at the moment with seven points from eight matches.
The Toffees have been hugely disappointing so far this season, and results need to improve in the coming weeks and months if the team are to challenge for a top-six finis in the Premier League.
