Could Everton snap up Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud in the summer transfer widow?

Marseille manager Rudi Garcia has been quoted as saying by The London Evening Standard that Olivier Giroud will not join from Arsenal.

According to The London Evening Standard, French club Marseille and Lyon have been interested in the France international striker.

“Don’t dream, he will not be coming,” The London Evening Standard quotes Garcia as saying about Giroud.

Arsenal's Olivier Giroud

Earlier this month, Sky Sports claimed that West Ham United have ended their pursuit of Giroud, and this week the Hammers announced that they have agreed to sign former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez from Bayer Leverkusen.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas told The London Standard Evening last month that his side have ended their pursuit of Giroud, meaning that Everton seem to be the last team standing in the race for the 30-year-old.

Arsenal's Olivier Giroud reacts

According to The Telegraph, both Borussia Dortmund and Everton are interested in Giroud, but the German club would not need another striker if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is not sold.

The Telegraph has quoted Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc as saying that Aubameyang will stay at the Bundesliga outfit.

Of course, Giroud could decide to remain at the club and Arsenal, who value the former Montpellier star at £20 million according to The Telegraph, may not sell him, but as things appear at the moment, Everton seem to have a clear run at the 30-year-old.
