Everton have been linked with another Sheffield Wednesday talent in George Hirst.

Everton’s transfer activity has been called into question in recent months, with a number of major first-team additions struggling to impress, bringing Steve Walsh’s job as director of football into question.
The Toffees have splashed the cash on the likes of Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Sandro Ramirez over the summer, with limited results, whilst Sam Allardyce was given the funds to bring in Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun in January.
Everton must be smarter in the transfer market when it comes to first-team additions, but their work bringing in players for the future has been admirable since Farhad Moshiri’s arrival at the club.

Ademola Lookman, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Dennis Adeniran, Bassala Sambou, Josh Bowler and Lewis Gibson are just a handful of the young players Everton have brought in, and more could be on the way.
TEAMtalk report that that Everton are pursuing Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Sean Clare, but given that the Liverpool Echo report that the Toffees have held a long-standing interest in Wednesday striker George Hirst, a double raid could be ideal.
Clare has emerged into the Wednesday first team this season, playing in three games under Jos Luhukay after a loan spell with Gillingham, and he looks set for a bright future after some promising showings.

The 21-year-old’s teammate Hirst is out of contract this summer and has shown his talent with 15 goals in 24 caps for England across various youth levels, with a move to the Premier League almost inevitable given that the Owls haven’t tied him down to a new deal.
Clare and Hirst would both be more smart signings for the future for Everton, and whilst fans will be hoping for better first-team signings this summer, two more talented youngsters can help the Toffees build for the future – at Sheffield Wednesday’s expense in this instance.
