Everton even paid big money for the signatures of Lewis Gibson and Peter Bowler from Newcastle United and QPR respectively despite the duo not starting a single senior game between them.
The tournament, which started last Friday and includes nations such as Germany, Brazil, Spain and England, will give The Toffees an insight into the latest fresh-faced fads making their mark at youth level.
With the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Toni Kroos, Kelechi Iheanacho and former Everton loan star Landon Donovan making their name at previous editions of the competition since its inception in 1985, there should be no shortage of talent for Everton’s scouts to write home about.
And the fact that the Merseysiders are one of only two Premier League sides who have travelled to India once again show Everton’s commitment to youth development and building a bright future at Goodison Park.
The Toffees won the Premier League 2 title last season, ensuring that academy graduates like Tom Davies, Mason Holgate and now Jonjoe Kenny earned their chance in Ronald Koeman’s first-team.
And Everton seem to be making strides to ensure their youth ranks remain stocked full of exciting talent for years to come.
