Liverpool are linked to a one-time Everton target it seems.

Everton scout Carlo Jacomuzzi has claimed that Liverpool signing Kalidou Koulibaly would be disastrous for their Premier League rivals, and suggested that the Reds are wealthy enough to sign two of him.

According to Il Mattino in Italy, Liverpool are interested in signing the Napoli centre-back.

Koulibaly, who has been linked to Everton in the past, is worth around £100 million after establishing himself as one of the best defenders in Italian football down the years.

The Reds already boast the world’s finest centre-back in the form of Virgil van Dijk, and Jacomuzzi, a scout for the Toffees, believes that the addition of the 28-year-old to play alongside him may enable the Anfield club to dominate the English and European game.

He told Area Napoli: “Liverpool? They’ve won so much from the Champions League, from the money from the federation and their sponsors that they can buy two Koulibalys.

“It would be a disaster for the others, having to find a way to go through that defence.”

He’s probably right, too.

Having dominated Europe last season, Liverpool already have arguably the best first XI on the continent, even if they were pipped to the Premier League title by Manchester City (by a point) but the addition of Koulibaly would make them nigh-on unstoppable.

The Senegal international, who was born in France, joined Napoli five years ago from Genk in Belgium.
