Everton have been thinking about a move for Dalian Professional striker Salomon Rondon, but the Blues may be backing away from a deal.
That’s according to the Liverpool Echo, who state that Rondon had popped up in transfer discussions at Goodison Park as they seek a new striker.
New boss Rafael Benitez is thought to be keen on adding an ‘experienced centre forward’ to offer cover and competition for top goalscorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Rondon would fit the bill perfectly, but Everton have seemingly explored a move and decided it isn’t for them unless something changes.
The 31-year-old is owned by Dalian in China, but joined CSKA Moscow on loan in February and has hit four goals and two assists in 13 appearances.
Rondon has Premier League experience with West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle United, with Benitez signing him on loan for the latter in 2018.

Benitez then took the Venezuelan with him to China, so it’s absolutely clear that Benitez is a huge fan of Rondon.
Another reunion at Everton could make sense given the profile they’re seeking, but Rondon earns around £150,000-a-week in China, and the Toffees may not want to get involved in such an expensive move for a player the wrong side of 30.
