Frank Lampard is fighting for his Everton future and the Toffees are now allegedly considering a move for Roberto Martinez as his replacement.
That’s according to The Sun, who claim that Lampard’s position at Everton is now hanging by a thread.
Tuesday’s 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion has really piled the pressure on Lampard.
Everton have now taken just two points from their last six Premier League games, and the four defeats have come at the hands of Leicester City, Bournemouth, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brighton – games Everton needed points from.
Lampard may become the latest Everton manager to lose his job against a backdrop of chaos at Goodison Park.
Convincing anybody to take the reins if Lampard goes will be difficult, but Everton seem to have a lofty target in mind.

Everton linked with Roberto Martinez move
The Sun claim that Everton are considering a move for Roberto Martinez.
The Spaniard recently left his post as Belgium boss after a truly dismal World Cup campaign.
Belgium didn’t even get out of their group and won just once in Qatar – and that was a hugely unconvincing 1-0 victory over Canada.
Martinez has now decided that the time is right to move on after more than six years in the job, with his big success being a semi-final finish at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
If Everton do make a move for Martinez and he accepts, this would be his second stint in charge of the Toffees.
Martinez initially impressed after a 2013 move from Wigan Athletic but his reign turned sour and his sacking in 2016 kickstarted the Farhad Moshiri era.
Everton just haven’t managed to settle on a replacement, going through Ronald Koeman, Sam Allardyce, Marco Silva, Carlo Ancelotti, Rafael Benitez and potentially Lampard.
Martinez would surely need some convincing to return to Goodison Park.
We know Bill Kenwright is a big fan but Everton have been through years of mismanagement and now find themselves in real danger of relegation.
Is that the job Martinez is seeking after leaving Belgium? It seems unlikely, but maybe the emotional pull off a return to Everton can do the trick.
