Cenk Tosun has struggled at Everton since joining the club from Besiktas.

The Daily Star claim Everton are willing to take an enormous £7million loss on striker Cenk Tosun, by setting his asking price for a fee of £20million – but they are better off keeping the Turkish star.

The Telegraph claimed a year ago that Everton had completed a move to sign powerhouse striker Tosun from Besiktas for a fee of £27million, but he has only scored eight goals for the Toffees – the last coming on Saturday in the FA Cup.

New manager Marco Silva is seemingly willing to part with the Turkey international, as he prefers the likes of Richarlison and Dom Calvert-Lewin up front. Theo Walcott and Ademola Lookman can also play as a striker.

The Daily Star claim that Everton will be willing to do business at the £20million mark, meaning they will lose £7million of what they paid for Tosun a year ago under Sam Allardyce.

Crystal Palace were first credited with a link for Tosun, but they have been told that the striker will not be allowed to leave Goodison Park on loan. Now, Huddersfield Town are also said to be interested.

Tosun has a contract at Everton until the summer of 2022, but it appears the Toffees have lost patience in the striker and it seems he could be set to leave before Thursday’s deadline if any interested parties meet Tosun’s asking price.

But is it worth it?

If the Toffees sold Tosun, they would have three or four days to bring in a replacement. A near-impossible task, even if negotiations have already begun.

But perhaps the main argument should be whether Everton are better off keeping Tosun and giving him a chance to show he is worth £27milllion. Everton are struggling, an placing confidence in the forward may just bring the best out of him.

Huddersfield and Palace certainly are not going to make offers worth £20million, so keeping him and giving him a chance may be the best option.
