Newcastle United have reportedly targeted Everton’s Nikola Vlasic.

Newcastle United missed out on Wesley last week, with the Brazilian striker joining Aston Villa – and the delay in settling Rafael Benitez’s future means they risk missing out on more targets.

The Magpies won’t be signing anyone until Benitez either commits his future or moves on, and it seems that they can add another target to the ‘missed out’ pile.

The Sun report that Newcastle have been interested in signing Everton talent Nikola Vlasic, to the point where Everton have been waiting for them to make a bid.

After all, Everton may have felt that they could get a better price from a Premier League, but it now seems that the Croatian is heading to CKSA Moscow permanently.

Vlasic’s agent Tonci Martic has told Championat that there are talks underway between Everton and CSKA over a permanent deal, after his impressive loan spell last season.

The 21-year-old playmaker hit eight goals and seven assists in a fine season, and with Everton seemingly not wanting him, he’s set to leave Goodison Park on a permanent basis.

Newcastle would have landed a real talent in Vlasic, and the chance was there for them to make their move, with Everton waiting by the phone – but the ongoing uncertainty over Benitez means that the Magpies are set to miss out on another target.
