Everton ended their losing run on Sunday afternoon, but they did in dramatic fashion with a 3-2 home win over Watford.

The Toffees were in desperate need of a positive result after losing 3-0 at Lyon in the Europa League, but they looked to be sliding to yet another defeat against Watford.

Richarlison and Christian Kabasele struck in the second half to put Watford 2-0 up, before Everton began their comeback, equalising through Oumar Niasse and then Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Leighton Baines converted a late penalty to put Everton on course for a dramatic win, and they secured three points when ex-Toffees midfielder Tom Cleverley missed a last-gasp penalty for Watford.

Everton will now be hoping to use the result as a springboard to kickstart their season, with caretaker David Unsworth making a number of key substitutions to guarantee just a third Premier League win of the season.

One of the players introduced was forward Ademola Lookman, with the 20-year-old brought on with more than half an hour to play, with the intention of bringing pace and direction to the Everton attack.

Lookman did just that, setting up Niasse’s goal whilst committing defenders with his dribbling ability – and given that Everton have lacked those attributes this season, fans have lauded Lookman on Twitter.

Everton fans took to social media to suggest that Lookman is exactly what the Toffees have been missing, even comparing his impact to that of Raheem Sterling when he broke into the Liverpool side, as they are desperate to see him play more first-team football this season.
