Everton product Calum Dyson has announced his retirement from professional football.
The 23-year-old striker has endured an injury-hit few years and was released by the Goodison Park club in the summer of 2018.
Dyson, who joined Everton at the age of six, signed for Plymouth Argyle, before being sent to Stevenage on loan, though he never made a league appearance for either club following an ankle problem.
And the Finch Farm starlet has revealed on Twitter that he has been forced to hang up his boots, calling time on a career that never really began.
David Henen played alongside Dyson for the Toffees’ Under-23 side and the Belgian striker – who himself quit the Merseyside club in 2018 – has sent his condolences on Twitter
Dyson only ever made Football League Trophy appearances for Argyle.
One of his best moments in an Everton shirt might’ve been a hat-trick in the Liverpool Senior Cup four years ago when he was 19.
During the 2015-16 campaign, he finished as the Blues’ joint top goalscorer at Under-23 level, helping them to a Premier League 2 title in another memorable experience.
