Everton return to Premier League action this weekend when they travel to take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Toffees have endured a largely miserable season, but did pick up their first win under caretaker boss David Unsworth before the international break, coming from 2-0 down to beat Watford 3-2.
With the Premier League now back this weekend, it’s imperative that Everton attempt to follow that win up with another positive result at Palace, despite their managerial situation dragging on.
Unsworth – who remains in charge following Ronald Koeman’s exit last month – will surely stick with Jordan Pickford in goal this weekend after impressing for England against Germany last Friday.
Jonjoe Kenny, Michael Keane, Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines figure to make up the back four, whilst Idrissa Gueye could be partnered by Tom Davies in midfield, given ongoing questions over Morgan Schneiderlin’s future.
Having made huge impacts as substitutes against Watford, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ademola Lookman could start out wide this weekend, though the more experienced Aaron Lennon may be an option away from home.
Having been the first player substituted against Watford, Wayne Rooney may well miss out in favour of record signing Gylfi Sigurdsson, whilst Oumar Niasse should lead the line again.
That would leave Joel Robles, Ashley Williams, Mason Holgate, Beni Baningime, Muhamed Besic, Lennon and Rooney as Unsworth’s substitutes – but nearly two weeks on from that comeback win against Watford, Unsworth’s team is hard to pick, with the caretaker boss facing some big calls this weekend.
