Antolin Alcaraz has been speaking about his Everton teammate John Stones.
Everton defender Antolin Alcaraz has been speaking about replacing the injured John Stones for the Toffees.
Stones is expected to be side-lined for up to three months after undergoing ankle surgery, which means the former Wigan Athletic man could be called on more regularly by Roberto Martinez in the weeks ahead.
Speaking to evertontv, Alcaraz said he was now over his own injury woes and ready to play when called upon, while also urging Stones to remain upbeat following his recent setback.
“I always give my absolute best in training and then the coach will decide,” Alcaraz said. “The opportunity (to play) is always going to be there and the important thing is to be ready for that moment.”
Alcaraz has only made eight appearances for the Toffees so far, but now fully fit and with chances likely in the next few months, he could soon add to that.
Speaking of Stones, his teammate said, “We need to make sure he stays positive, try to make him feel better and hope he comes back quickly.
“We have to help him on the road to recovery because he is a young guy and this is his first big injury.”
With teammates that supportive, and many who know exactly what he is going through, Stones should be able to cope with this blow with relative ease.
