Real Betis have no intention of letting Manuel Pellegrini leave the club amid reports linking the one-time Premier League winner with a move to Everton, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

When Carlo Ancelotti rushed back to Real Madrid, many Everton supporters could have been forgiven for assuming the 62-year-old Italian would be replaced at Goodison Park by a younger model.

Well, perhaps not.

Ancelotti would look comparatively fresh faced standing next to Claudio Ranieri, Fatih Terim and 67-year-old Pellegrini, even if the latter does appear to have added a coat of boot polish to his once-greying mane.

The Daily Mail reported yesterday that with the likes of Sean Dyche, David Moyes and Paulo Fonseca slipping through Everton’s fingers, the Merseyside giants were considering a man whose last spell in England, with West Ham United, ended disastrously.

Will ex-Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini take over at Everton?

Pellegrini has succeeded in rebuilding his once-glittering reputation over in Spain, however, guiding Real Betis to Europa League qualification following a brilliant run of form since the turn of the year.

And the Verdiblancos have no interest in letting the former Manchester City and Real Madrid manager leave with his contract running until 2023.

“(Pellegrini) will continue here and hopefully for many years,” says Real Betis sporting director Antonio Cordon.

“He has a long-term contract,” adds Betis president Angel Haro, in quotes reported by AS.

“(Pellegrini) is attracted to the project – the social dimension of Betis and that it is a club with a soul.”

Pellegrini to Everton, then, feels like a non-starter.

The Chilean is happy in Andalusia and, more importantly, Real Betis are happy with him.
