Everton-owned Ipswich Town defender Matthew Pennington was in action against Leeds United on Wednesday.

Pennington, who joined Ipswich on loan from Premier League club Everton in the summer transfer window, featured against Leeds away from home at Elland Road in the Championship on Wednesday evening.
The 24-year-old centre-back – who spent the 2017-18 campaign on loan at Leeds, started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, as Marcelo Bielsa’s side won 2-0.
Hurst was pleased with the display produced by Pennington for Ipswich and has spoken highly of the former England Under-19.
Hurst told Ipswich’s official website: “Matt Pennington was the stand out player for us tonight against a club he was on loan at last year.
“He was on the front foot, defended extremely well, picked out some good passes and can be pleased with his performance.”

Ipswich Town exit
Hurst was in charge of Ipswich for Leeds, but the former Shrewsbury Town boss is no longer the manager of the Tractor Boys.
As announced on Ipswich’s official Twitter page this evening, the Championship club have parted company with Hurst.
The Tractor Boys are at the foot of the Championship table at the moment with nine points from 14 matches, four points behind 21st-placed Rotherham United.
