Everton are now set to lose another bright talent in Isaac Price after already letting Mohamed-Ali Cho slip through their fingers.

What’s the story?

Well, something is not right at Goodison Park when it comes to showing young prospects a clear pathway into the first-team.

The Athletic believe Price is now set to join Standard Liege on a free transfer, after coming to the realisation that his best chance of making it in senior football would be to leave Everton.

It is said that the 19-year-old is very highly rated by those at Goodison Park, and his departure would signal a significant blow.

Price made two senior appearances for Everton last season – including his Premier League debut – while he also made his debut for Northern Ireland in March. He appeared in the Premier League against Brighton this term too.

Frank Lampard even described the teenager as the “best player on the pitch” after a friendly against Celtic during the World Cup break.

As aforesaid, something isn’t right at Goodison Park, because Price isn’t the first gem to leave Everton.

Everton lose another prospect in Isaac Price

Everton lost a very talented prodigy in Thierry Small when he decided to join Southampton back in August 2021.

Before that, the Toffees lost another prospect in the aforementioned Cho, who forced a move to Angers in 2020 against Everton’s wishes.

The Athletic believe both Small and Cho could not see a future for themselves at Goodison Park, with the pair feeling that an exit from Merseyside would give them the best chance of making it in senior football.

Cho has since become a diamond across Europe, securing a €12m (£11m) move to Real Sociedad after taking French football by storm.

Of course, it is difficult for Everton to give opportunities to young talent when fighting against relegation more often than not in recent years.

Nevertheless, something needs to change, as there have been too many gems slipping through the net.
