It has been reported that the Toffees and Fulham – who will play in the Premier League next season after winning promotion from the Championship – have joined Sheffield United in the race for the Wigan left-back.
The Latics have accepted a bid of £2 million from the Blades for the USA international, but late intervention from Everton and Fulham means that the move has yet to go through, according to Sky Sports.
Back to Everton?
Robinson was on the books of Everton from 2008 until 2019 when he was sold to Wigan for a transfer fee reported by The Liverpool Echo to be worth £2 million.
The 23-year-old left-back failed to establish himself in the Toffees’ first team, and had loan spells at Bolton Wanderers and Wigan before he made the permanent move to the Latics.
The youngster did well for Wigan on a personal level this past season, as he scored one goal and provided one assist in 38 Championship matches, according to WhoScored.
With Leighton Baines having retired, Everton do need a left-back to compete with Lucas Digne, and bringing back Robinson would not be a bad idea.
