Everton are chasing a deal for AC Milan left back Fode Ballo-Toure as Sean Dyche ramps up his search for new faces.

AC Milan defender Fode Ballo-Toure is on Everton’s wish list this summer with a new left back needed at Goodison Park.

That is according to Foot Mercato over in France, who claim that Everton are in the race to sign Ballo-Toure.

It’s stated that Toffees are ‘in the process’ of trying to lure Ballo-Toure away from AC Milan this summer.

Everton are far from alone though as Bologna and Werder Bremen are also interested in snapping up Ballo-Toure.

Fulham are understood to be keeping tabs on Ballo-Toure, but it looks like they will manage to keep hold of Antonee Robinson.

Ballo-Toure is understood to want more first-team minute and isn’t likely to get them at AC Milan, who already have Theo Hernandez.

Who is Everton target Fode Ballo-Toure?

Ballo-Toure was born in north-west Paris and came up through the Paris Saint-Germain ranks as a kid.

After 12 years in the PSG ranks, Ballo-Toure decided to leave in 2017 as he chased first-team football with Lille.

Ballo-Toure spent two seasons at Lille before moving on to Monaco in 2019 and then Milan in 2021.

A Senegal international, Ballo-Toure has regularly been a backup left back in his career and now wants to play.

Ballo-Toure is now 26 and seemingly doesn’t want to be stuck behind Theo Hernandez forever.

Just five league starts last season wasn’t enough for Ballo-Toure and he is now ready to move on.

A former winger in his early days, Ballo-Toure is quick and attack-minded but maybe not the best defensively.

Everton need a left back solution

Everton were spoilt at left back for many years with Leighton Baines racking up appearances and goals.

Lucas Digne took over well but Rafael Benitez’s decision to sell the Frenchman in January 2022 has left Everton in a bit of a mess.

Vitaliy Mykolenko has yet to show that he can be a top Premier League left back and Ruben Vinagre’s forgettable loan has ended.

Sean Dyche clearly knew this was a problem area as he ended the season with Dwight McNeil as a left wing back.

That can’t continue and Everton may now see Ballo-Toure as a long-term solution to their left back issues.
