Everton have now entered the race to sign Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi.

According to the Evening Standard, Everton and Nottingham Forest have joined Fulham in the battle for Callum Hudson-Odoi‘s signature.

Fulham did appear to be at the front of the queue for the 22-year-old’s services, but the same outlet claims that the west London club are so far unwilling to pay Chelsea’s £8m asking price.

It is a frustrating development for Hudson-Odoi, who is desperate to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, the Evening Standard also reports.

Fulham’s lack of progress in their bid to sign the England international, though, could provide Everton with the opportunity to swoop in and land him.

Callum Hudson-Odoi could be perfect for Everton

When you think about a Sean Dyche team, what comes to mind is an outfit who can defend well and really utilise the flanks.

Bearing that in mind, then, a tricky wide man like Hudson-Odoi looks ideal for Everton.

The last couple of seasons have not been great for the £120,000-a-week (Spotrac) attacker, who had a disappointing loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen last term. During his time in Germany, he failed to score a single league goal.

It is easy to forget, though, that Hudson-Odoi is still just 22 years of age. He has more than enough time to rediscover his best form again and develop into a top player.

To get there, perhaps he just needs some stability and a consistent run in a team, something Everton may be able to give the Chelsea man if he decides to join them permanently this summer.

Everton have made a poor start to the season, losing 4-0 against Aston Villa last time out. They need to improve their squad further before the transfer window closes and Hudson-Odoi’s arrival could help them to do that.
