In recent weeks, it has been said that Everton are keen to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea, with Newcastle and West Ham also interested.
The England international has fallen out of favour under Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge, and Crystal Palace are also eyeing a move for the 21-year-old.
Now, however, Everton have a golden chance to fend off their Premier League rivals in this transfer battle.
What’s the story?
Well, as you may have heard, Chelsea are now bidding for Anthony Gordon.
An offer worth up to £45m has been made for the England Under-21 international, following his impressive breakout campaign last season in which he scored four Premier League goals in 35 appearances.
However, the Toffees have rejected the bid, according to The Times.
In our view, this is where Everton have a golden chance to sign Hudson-Odoi, who we feel would be a fantastic replacement for Gordon – if not a better option altogether.
It has been said that Hudson-Odoi is likely to leave Chelsea, so if Everton ask for the 21-year-old to be included in the deal as part of a player-plus-cash offer, we believe the Blues would be open to it.
In our view, Everton would actually be better off if this deal materialised, as Hudson-Odoi already boasts Champions League and senior international experience at the same age as Gordon.
Crystal Palace could also challenge Everton, Newcastle & West Ham
Of course, Everton aren’t the only side with a player of interest to Chelsea.
It has been said that Crystal Palace and Chelsea could also strike a deal involving Hudson-Odoi, as Tuchel is interested in signing Wilfried Zaha from the Eagles.

Therefore, Everton must be quick if they are willing to sacrifice Gordon in a bid to make some cash and also sign Hudson-Odoi.
There is certainly an interesting transfer saga emerging here, so be sure to keep an eye on developments.
