Everton sacked manager Ronald Koeman last month – and the search is on for a replacement.

Everton confirmed last month that manager Ronald Koeman has been relieved of his duties after a dreadful start to the season.

The Toffees went into the season full of hope and optimism, having splashed the cash over the summer on players such as Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Davy Klaassen, whilst they also brought Wayne Rooney back to the club.

However, with five defeats in the first nine Premier League games, and just one point taken from the first three Europa League outings, Everton endured a disastrous start to the campaign – and Koeman paid with his job.

Caretaker boss David Unsworth claimed a first win in their last game before the international break, coming from 2-0 down to beat Watford 3-2 at Goodison Park, and he remains in the running to land the job permanently.

Bookmakers such as Sky Bet have been pricing up odds for Everton’s new manager ever since Koeman’s update, and here are some of the main names in the frame this evening.

Marco Silva: 5/4

Watford boss Silva was the subject of an approach from Everton earlier this week, but the Hornets rejected their bid as they look to keep hold of the 40-year-old. The Portuguese boss has impressed in 2017 with Hull City and now Watford, but the Hornets are unsurprisingly keen to keep him at Vicarage Road. Silva was the evens favourite on Tuesday, and remains the favourite at 5/4 this evening.

David Unsworth: 11/8

Caretaker boss Unsworth has won just once in four games for Everton, but remains a strong contender for the job. Unsworth is currently 11/8 to land the job permanently, just as he was on Tuesday night. His lack of managerial experience may count against him, but with strong ties to Everton from his playing days, and with Everton struggling to land a new manager, Unsworth could find himself as one of the last remaining candidates.

Martin O’Neill: 11/1

O’Neill’s Republic of Ireland side saw their World Cup hopes end on Tuesday night with a 5-1 home defeat to Denmark, leaving many questioning his position as Ireland boss. Formerly of Celtic, Aston Villa and Sunderland, O’Neill is a veteran manager with huge experience, and his man-management skills could be vital right now after Koeman’s shortcomings at Everton. At 11/1, O’Neill could emerge as a late contender for the Everton job.

Oscar Garcia: 14/1

Another late entrant into the running is Spanish boss Oscar Garcia, who today left his post with Saint-Etienne in France after a strained relationship with the club’s director of football. Garcia, 44, has managed Barcelona B and Red Bull Salzburg in a nomadic career, with spells in England with Brighton and Watford. Now out of work, Garcia could be a left-field shout for Everton, coming in at 14/1.
