According to Calciomercato, Maurizio Sarri could be an option to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Everton, after his shock return to Real Madrid.

The Italian news outlet claims that the 62-year-old is also being targeted by Lazio.

However, both parties have given themselves 48 hours to come to a decision, hence why a move to Everton is still in the offing.

Calciomercato state that nothing can be ruled out at this stage, and he may come back to the Premier League now Everton have a vacancy.

In our view, Sarri would be a good appointment.

The Italian won 21 of his 38 Premier League games during his one season at Chelsea, while also securing the Europa League.

Since leaving England, Sarri went on to lift the Serie A title with Juventus, before he was sacked with Andrea Pirlo replacing him.

Tottenham have also spoken to Sarri

According to Calciomercato, Tottenham actually spoke to Sarri a few weeks ago as Daniel Levy continues his hunt for José Mourinho’s replacement.

If Levy felt Sarri was a candidate to take Spurs back into the Champions League, then surely he has the credentials to do well at Everton.

The Italian is an underrated manager, in our view.

He was named Serie A Coach of the Year in 2017 for his fine work at Napoli, which eventually landed him the Chelsea job.

Sarri is also currently unemployed, so Farhad Moshiri wouldn’t need to pay any compensation to hire him.
