Everton chief Marcel Brands is said to particularly rate Graham Potter, as the Toffees hunt their new boss.

The Athletic claim that Everton’s Brands is a big fan of the Brighton & Hove Albion boss, who has caught the eye in his first full season of Premier League management.

Brighton may not have finished as high in the table as their performances deserved, as their finishing was poor – but their style of play remains highly eye catching.

As a result it seems that Potter is a candidate to takeover at Everton, with Brands particularly keen.

It is said in the same report that no clear favourite has yet emerged, meaning Everton’s board still have some decision making to do, after Carlo Ancelotti’s departure.

Whether they could lure Potter away from Brighton remains to be seen, as Tony Bloom has previously sent out some defiant messages about his manager, who also been linked with the Tottenham Hotspur job.

Potter to Everton?

Potter’s arrival at Everton would likely create a mixed reaction.

While his style of play and coaching skills would surely be welcomed at Goodison Park, there would have to be some concerns about him managing players of a higher profile.

Potter’s managerial career to date has been very successful, but he has only really taken on lower-profile jobs.

With Everton making no secret of their desire to gatecrash the top six, the ambitions would change if he was to move to Merseyside.

And he could hardly be any more different to Ancelotti – who really was a glamour name when he arrived at Everton.
