Everton and Newcastle United both made approaches to sign Hakim Ziyech but he has rejected them in favour of Paris Saint-Germain.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who claim that offers were on the table from both Everton and Newcastle ahead of the transfer deadline.

However, Ziyech has his heart set on a move to France with PSG and has rejected the two Premier League clubs.

PSG are now in talks with Chelsea over a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Discussions are allegedly ‘advanced’ with Ziyech already talking to some PSG players about his possible arrival.

Ziyech is a Morocco international teammate of PSG star Achraf Hakimi and having excelled down the right side at the World Cup, they could now join forces again.

Chelsea paid £33million for Ziyech back in 2020 and the time has now seemingly come for him to move on.

Everton and Newcastle miss out on Hakim Ziyech

Offers coming from Everton and Newcastle is no huge surprise.

The Telegraph reported last week that Newcastle are keen to sign Ziyech with recruitment staff members liking the idea of a loan with option to buy.

The Magpies do need a little more creativity in the final third at times and Ziyech’s ability to play wide or as a number 10 will have been very attractive to the Magpies.

Sky Sports added that Everton were willing to pay £25million to sign Ziyech permanently as they seek to reinvest the Anthony Gordon cash.

The Toffees really need impact players in the final third and Ziyech was on the wish list – even if he doesn’t really scream that he’s a Sean Dyche type of play.

However, the two clubs are set to miss out as Ziyech with the 29-year-old preferring a move to France with PSG.

It will always be hard for Everton and Newcastle to compete with the pull of PSG, and they will both seemingly have to move on to other targets on deadline day.
