Everton’s recent signing Enner Valencia has been quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying that he was talking to other clubs before heading to Goodison Park.
The Toffees may have missed out on a host of transfer targets during the final stages of the summer transfer window, but with Ronald Koeman seeking attacking reinforcements to support Romelu Lukaku, Everton did make a late addition to their first team.

Whilst Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been brought in for the future, Enner Valencia was snapped up from West Ham United to provide Koeman with an immediate attacking option.
Valencia, 26, joined West Ham with high expectations back in the summer of 2014, having starred for Ecuador with three goals at the World Cup in Brazil.
However, his move from Mexican side Pachuca hasn’t been a roaring success, and he hit just ten goals in 66 games in all competitions for West Ham.

Having fallen out of favour under Slaven Bilic, Valencia has now joined Everton on a season-long loan deal, with a view to a permanent move should he impress on Merseyside.
Now, ahead of Valencia’s potential debut against Middlesbrough this weekend, he has opened up on his move – and claims he had interest from other clubs.
Valencia has been quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying that he was in talks with other teams, but Everton were the best option for him; particularly given that BBC Sport report that Premier League rivals Swansea had held talks with him just hours before he joined Everton.
“I had some options but when I heard about Everton and saw the quality of the players, nobody would say not to come here,” Valencia said.
“It is a great opportunity to come here with great team-mates and an excellent opportunity to have a great year in the Premier League,” he added.
