Everton should be in the market for a right back in January.
Everton’s work in the summer transfer window has seen them embark on a strong run of form, winning four of their last six and dropping only five points in that run.
Marcel Brands and Marco Silva have enjoyed one strong window already by landing Yerry Mina, Kurt Zouma, Lucas Digne, Andre Gomes, Bernard and Richarlison – and that work will continue in January.
There are a couple of positions that Everton may need to strengthen in January, and one of those is right back, as Jonjoe Kenny is yet to impress this season and Seamus Coleman needs more proven competition.
Silva may look to players he has worked with in the past, and one player who may fit the bill is Olympiakos star Omar Elabdellaoui having already worked with him twice in the past.
Silva inherited the Norwegian at Olympiakos before then signing him for Hull City in January 2017, with a permanent deal impossible after Hull’s relegation to the Championship.
The Mirror reported that Silva wanted to bring in Elabdellaoui at Watford but no deal materialised, and his experience in Europe and on the international stage may just lend itself to being ideal for what Everton need.
Elabdellaoui is of a good age at 26, has great pace to get forward and has been in fine form for Olympiakos this season, whilst he has also served as their vice-captain in an important role this term.
A former Manchester City talent who can provide experienced competition for Coleman whilst also having good years ahead of him without breaking the bank, Elabdellaoui should be on Silva’s radar for another stint together in January.
