Everton are linked with the struggling Belgian this month.

Michy Batshuayi of Chelsea looks on during The Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round match between Chelsea and Newcastle on January 28, 2018 in London, United Kingdom.

It was reported earlier this week that Everton would have to stump up £14 million to sign Michy Batshuayi.

The Chelsea hitman is heavily linked with a move away from West London and the Toffees are reportedly interested [The Mirror].

Director of Football Marcel Brands claimed in Everton’s AGM recently that there would be no ‘big’ additions – and none at all unless he sold players first.

But Batshuayi is worth the plunge – and especially for £14 million.

He failed to impress on loan at Valencia earlier this season but make no mistake, the 25-year-old remains a striker with enormous potential.

You could argue that he should’ve shown some of it by now, which is true, but he needs the right club and that may be Everton.

The Goodison Park side have lacked a proper goalscorer up front since Romelu Lukaku joined Manchester United, but Batshuayi could be the player that Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse clearly aren’t.

There are also similarities between Batshuayi and Lukaku. He may not be as good, and may never will be, but he can Everton’s best goalscorer since his fellow Belgian left and for £14 million – half of what they signed Lukaku for [BBC Sport] – it’s a no brainer.
