Everton are reportedly considering one Algerian international… and should look at another.
Everton are reported by The Star to be closing in on Rennes centre-back Remy Bensebaini.
The 23-year-old is a promising talent said to be worth £13.5 million… and he is not the only Algerian who Everton should consider.
The most intriguing name in Algeria’s national team is prolific striker Baghdad Bounedjah.
Bounedjah has three goals in his last four Algeria games and is keeping Islam Slimani out of the starting line up at present.
He is currently playing in Qatar, where he has an astoundingly good goalscoring record.
This season Bounedjah has netted 26 goals in 11 games, which includes nine goals in eight Asian Champions League games.
The standard of the Qatari league is nowhere near the Premier League, and it is apparent Bounedjah is too good.
He told Algerian website Gazzette du Fennec last month that he is eyeing a move to Europe, and it is only a matter of time.
Too good for Qatar, the question is whether he is good enough for the English Premier League.
Everton are seemingly willing to take a chance on his international teammate, and they will be well aware of how Leicester reaped the rewards of gambling on previously unknown Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez.
Bounedjah has an eye catching record, and at 26, is entering the best years of his career.
It would be smart for Everton to take a gamble on bringing him to Goodison from Al Sadd and shake up their current forward options.
