Everton should join the battle for Genk’s Joakim Mæhle.
Everton didn’t make any signings in the January transfer window, but director of football Marcel Brands should be a busy man during the summer window.
The Toffees are enduring an underwhelming season under Marco Silva, and after a spending spree last summer, more new arrivals should arrive at the end of the campaign.
One area that must be strengthened is right back, as Seamus Coleman has been hugely disappointing this term, whilst Jonjoe Kenny has yet to prove that he is a top Premier League right back.
Brands will be looking to talented young players who can kick on at Goodison Park, and Genk’s Joakim Mæhle fits the bill for the Toffees.
In January, Southampton attempted to sign the Dane, but failed with a £10.5million bid (Daily Mail), with many expecting the Saints to have another go this summer.
Everton should now be looking at Mæhle as a possible target this summer, swooping in to try and beat Southampton to the right back.
Mæhle, 21, has starred in Belgium this season with two goals and a whopping eight assists from right back, whilst impressing many with his blistering pace, which helps both going forward and defensively.
Mæhle’s best years are ahead of him, and he looks physically ready for the Premier League too, which would be a huge boost to Silva and co.
Genk would likely take a little over that £10.5million bid for Mæhle this summer, and for that price, Everton should be viewing the promising full back as a potential heir to Coleman in a shrewd move.
