Everton midfielder Tom Davies suggests area he’s trying to improve

Everton midfielder Tom Davies has suggested that Sam Allardyce’s style suits him, and outlined how he’s looking to improve.

Tom Davies has told Everton’s official website that he feels that he is suited to the kind of system that Sam Allardyce prefers to play, but insisted that he wants to improve in one area of his game.

It has been a fairly frustrating season for the midfielder. While he has made 22 Premier League appearances this term, he has started just 12 times, and has arguably not shown the signs that suggest that he is going to kick on after an incredibly promising campaign last year.

He has featured more regularly since Big Sam arrived at Goodison Park. And he suggested that he is kind of player that relishes being instructed to play the way that Allardyce wants, but the 19-year-old – who is yet to score this season – insisted that doing more in front of goal is something that he is looking to work on.

“My attributes seem to fit into what the manager wants from his midfield. With the way he wants us to play, with us pressing, it fits my game,” he told the club’s official website.

“I do think I bring more to the table but I am looking to improve every day in training.

“I would like to add more goals to my game, as well as creating more chances. That’s what I’m working hard to do.”

Though Davies is happy with his role under Allardyce, it seems fair to suggest that a large section of the Toffees fans are not happy with Big Sam being their manager, and their recent run of form has not helped the boss’ cause.

Everton have won once since December and are ever so slightly starting to edge back towards the periphery of the relegation scrap, and that will undoubtedly have a number of supporters concerned, especially as Allardyce has seemingly never quite managed to win the majority of the fans around anyway.

And while Davies may be pleased with the way that the manager is using him, some fans may look at the prospect’s lack of goals or assists – he has one in the league this term – and worry about what his future may hold.
