Everton midfielder Ross Barkley has taken to social media platform Twitter to explain why he made a deadline U-turn on his move to Chelsea.

According to The Times, Barkley travelled to Chelsea to hold talks on Thursday after a £35 million deal had been agreed between the two clubs.

However, late on deadline day, Barkley had a change of heart, and decided against joining the Blues.

There are rumours that Barkley had undergone a medical before rejecting the move, but the player has made it clear that those talks have no foundation at all.

The England international, who has 22 caps under his belt so far, is currently sidelined with a torn hamstring and is expected to be out for at least three months.

Barkley has made it clear that he took the decision considering his injury, and thought it would be best for him to assess the situation in January when he will fully recover.

The Times report that Tottenham Hotspur who have shown great interest in him throughout the summer are expected to return with an offer for Barkley in January.

Spurs fans responded to Barkley’s tweet, with many wanting him to join the north London club in January.
