The Toffees host Chelsea on Saturday looking to end 2017 with a major home scalp.
Midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has warned Saturday’s opponents Chelsea that Everton “are a threat to anyone” at Goodison Park, according to Sky Sports.
The Toffees have set a new club record for most home wins (15) and most home goals (47) during a calendar year in the Premier League era throughout 2017.
Only Pep Guardiola’s mercurical Manchester City side have scored more home league goals this year with 52.
Much of Everton’s Goodison success this in 2017 was down to the Romelu Lukaku-inspired form of the second half of last season, but that confidence is returning under Sam Allardyce.
“It’s a big game, but we have to embrace it,” Schneiderlin told Sky Sports. “We know at Goodison we are a threat to everyone, so we have to set the tempo of the game, we have to cause them problems and then we will see.”
The Merseysiders have won all three of their home matches since Allardyce’s appointment in November and now seem ready for a big scalp as Chelsea and Manchester United visit over Christmas.
However, Everton have suffered when hosting top-six sides this campaign, with Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal both inflicting three-goal defeats when Ronald Koeman was in charge.
It will be a mark of how much the Toffees have learned under Allardyce, who loves nothing more than getting one over the elite clubs and managers, if they can beat Chelsea this weekend.
